When does the current stop?
Point 5 of 14 — Lesson 1: Galvanic Cells, Standard Hydrogen Electrode and Electrochemical SeriesQuestion bank: 0 questions (0 with pictures)
05 When does the current stop?
The current stops when the cell reaction can no longer continue, that is when
- all the zinc metal of the anode has dissolved, or
- all the Cu²⁺ ions of the cathode half-cell have been changed into copper atoms.
At that point the cell is "dead" (exhausted).
