Lesson summary
The regression line is the best straight line representing the relationship, found by the method of least squares.
The regression equation of y on x is ŷ = a + bx, where b = (n Σxy − Σx Σy) ÷ (n Σx² − (Σx)²) and a = ȳ − b x̄.
The line always passes through the point (x̄, ȳ), and the sign of b is the sign of r.
Prediction inside the data range is more reliable than prediction outside it.
The accuracy of prediction depends on the strength of the correlation.
