- The solar system consists of the Sun, eight planets and their moons, asteroids and comets.
- The four inner planets are rocky; Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants; Uranus and Neptune are ice giants.
- The Earth is the third planet. It rotates once in 24 hours and revolves around the Sun in one year.
- Day and night are caused by the Earth’s rotation, and the seasons are caused by the tilt of its axis.
