Interior and Exterior Angles of a Polygon

A polygon and its angles

A polygon and its angles

  • A polygon is a closed flat figure made of straight segments called sides, where each two consecutive sides meet at a vertex.
  • A regular polygon has all its sides equal and all its angles equal, such as a square or an equilateral triangle.
  • An interior angle of a polygon is the angle between two consecutive sides, measured inside the polygon.
  • An exterior angle is the angle between a side and the extension of the neighbouring side.
  • At each vertex, the exterior angle and the interior angle are supplementary.
