Ascending Cumulative Frequency Table

The frequency table and its classes

The frequency table and its classes

  • A frequency table presents grouped data in classes.
  • The frequency is the number of values that fall in each class.
  • A class such as “from 10 to less than 20” has 10 as its lower limit, and 20 as its upper limit, which is not included in the class.
  • To build an ascending cumulative frequency table, we form running totals that start from the first class.
  • The cumulative frequency of a class is its own frequency plus the frequencies of all the classes before it.
  • The table shows how many values are less than each upper limit.
