  • 🎯 أهداف التعلم والمخرجات التعليمية المقررة بالتفصيل:
  • • Verify the two laws of light reflection (Angle of Incidence = Angle of Reflection).
  • • Analyze spherical mirrors center of curvature (C), radius (R), principal focus (F), focal length (f = R/2), and determine image characteristics for concave and convex mirrors.
  • • Distinguish between convex (converging) and concave (diverging) lenses, ray tracing, and real vs virtual images.
  • • Diagnose optical vision defects (Short-sightedness / Myopia and Long-sightedness / Hyperopia) and explain corrective lens optics.

◄ 1. Geometric Optics of Spherical Mirrors

  • Spherical mirrors are sliced segments of reflective hollow spheres.
  • In a concave mirror, rays parallel to the principal axis reflect through the real focus (F).
  • Rays passing through the focus reflect parallel to the principal axis.
  • Rays passing through the center of curvature (C) strike the mirror normally (angle of incidence = 0) and reflect back on themselves.
  • Image formation depends strictly on object placement relative to (C) and (F): Beyond C produces a real, inverted, diminished image between C and F; At C produces a real, inverted, equal image at C; Between C and F produces a real, inverted, magnified image beyond C; At F produces no image (rays reflect parallel to infinity); Between F and the mirror pole produces a virtual, erect, magnified image behind the mirror.

  • ◄ 2. Refractive Optics of Lenses & Vision Defect Pathology
  • Lenses operate on the principle of light refraction across two transparent spherical interfaces.
  • A convex lens acts as a converging optical device with two optical foci and two centers of curvature.
  • A ray passing through the optical center (C) passes without suffering any refraction.
  • Human vision relies on the crystalline lens focusing light exactly onto the photoreceptive retina.
  • In Myopia (short-sightedness), light rays converge in front of the retina; a diverging concave lens is prescribed to spread rays before entering the eye so they focus precisely on the retina.
  • In Hyperopia (long-sightedness), rays converge behind the retina; a converging convex lens is prescribed to focus rays earlier directly onto the retina.
  • 🧮 التطبيقات والمسائل النموذجية المحلولة بالخطوات (Step-by-Step Worked Examples):
  • مثال نموذجي 1:
  • نص المسألة / السؤال A luminous object of height 5 cm is placed at a distance of 16 cm in front of a concave mirror whose radius of curvature is 20 cm. 1) Find the focal length of the mirror. 2) Determine the position, nature, and magnification of the formed image. 3) What happens if the object is shifted to a distance of 8 cm from the mirror?
  • خطوات الحل والشرح النموذجي 1) Focal length f = R / 2 = 20 / 2 = 10 cm.2) The object is placed at d = 16 cm, which is between the focus (f = 10 cm) and the center of curvature (C = 20 cm). Therefore, the image is formed at a distance greater than 20 cm (beyond C). The image is Real, Inverted, and Magnified (height > 5 cm).3) If the object is shifted to d = 8 cm, it is now placed between the focus (10 cm) and the mirror pole (< f). The reflected rays diverge, and their backward extensions meet behind the mirror, forming a Virtual, Erect, and Highly Magnified image behind the mirror.
