Direct proportion
Direct proportion
Two quantities are in direct proportion when, if one increases by a certain ratio, the other increases by the same ratio.
For example, the price of goods is in direct proportion to their weight.
To solve such a problem, first find the price of one unit, then multiply it by the required number of units.
Profits between partners
When more than one person takes part in a project, the profit is shared according to the ratio of each person’s capital.
This is a direct use of dividing a quantity in a given ratio.
