Data and its types
Data are pieces of information collected about a phenomenon, such as students’ test scores or the heights of pupils in a class.
Data in the form in which they were collected are called raw data.
Raw data are usually unordered, so they must be organised to be read easily.
Data are of two kinds.
Numerical (quantitative) data are numbers we measure or count, such as heights and scores.
Descriptive (qualitative) data are qualities we cannot measure with numbers, such as the colour of a car or a favourite game.
