Organizing Data

Lesson summary

Lesson summary

  • Raw data are organised in a frequency table to make them easier to read.
  • The frequency is the number of times a value occurs, and the total of the frequencies equals the number of data values.
  • Large sets of data are grouped into classes of equal width. A class includes its lower limit and excludes its upper limit.
  • Relative frequency = frequency ÷ total frequency, and percentage = relative frequency × 100.
