Cellular respiration is the process in which food substances, mainly glucose, are oxidised inside the cell to release the energy stored in them. This energy is used for all the activities of a living organism, such as movement, growth, cell division and transport of substances.
It is different from breathing with the lungs.
Inhaling and exhaling move air into and out of the lungs, while cellular respiration takes place inside every cell.
