Lesson summary
A random variable is a function that links the outcomes of an experiment to real numbers, and its range is the set of its values.
A discrete variable has a range of separate values that can be counted.
The two conditions of a probability distribution
0 ≤ f(x) ≤ 1, and Σ f(x) = 1.
The probability of any event is found by adding the probabilities of the values included in it.
The condition that the probabilities add up to 1 is used to find an unknown constant.
